Currently
We are serving with Youth With A Mission in Perth, in Australia (YWAM Perth). YWAM is a global movement of Christians from many cultures, age groups, and Christian traditions, dedicated to serving Jesus throughout the world.
Joel is part of the Finance ministry, accounting for all of God’s provision for the campus.
Louise is part of another YWAM Perth ministry called ARMS (Australian Relief and Mercy Services). They practically help families in a crisis situation.
Past
We met in Perth in 2007. Served the YWAM Campus in different areas like DTS (Discipleship Training School), ARMS, accounts, and primary healthcare. We reached out to several nations including Madagascar, Mozambique, Japan, Indonesia, Mexico… Then we moved to Nepal for 6 years serving the people there in practical ways. After that we spent 3 years in Switzerland, serving YWAM Burtigny. And now, we are back in Perth.
Future
While we were serving in Nepal, we felt that God was leading us to join YWAM Regenerate in the future, but that we wouldn’t be able to go there straight away. We also felt that Australia is our promised land and to conquer it, we needed to start by serving with YWAM Perth.
A little bit about YWAM Regenerate. The farm is located 3 hours south of Perth. Its vision is threefold.
The first is to regenerate the soil by building healthy soil instead of depleting it. For example, having many different types of animals grazing in rotation, having permanent ground cover, minimum tillage, etc.
Second, to regenerate people by providing space to get refreshed, especially for missionaries who need a break.
Third, to regenerate communities overseas, by training church planters in sustainable farming methods so they can then go to closed nations. This way they have an official reason to be there while sharing the Gospel.
